measure, the offer of

the Great Northern Telegraph Company, with which is amalgamated the "Oriental Telephone Company of London,

to let the instruments to the Government

at twenty five dollars per set per .___ annum, the Company Keeping them in order but the Government laying

down the lines.

The Captain Superintendent

Police states that the instruments of the Company are preferable to the ~

now in use

delegraphie instruments in his department, as they do not: require a skilled operator, any constable in the station being able to

speak through them
